Intuition - Buzzkill ft. Slug + Consequence feat. Asher Roth - Childish Games

Buzzkill ft. Slug (of Atmosphere) (prod. Equalibrum)

I don’t know that much about Intuition but he sounds pretty dope on this track. But we all know what this post is really for. Classic Slug over a friendly beat.

New mixtape from Consequence titled Cons TV Presents… Movies On Demand is set to drop in February. We haven’t heard from Asher in awhile.

Felt 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez + Brother Ali Talks Illegal Downloading + Red Bull Big Beat Battle (Minneapolis)

Felt 3 will be a tribute to actress Rosie Perez. Ha! I like the album art too - the video above is also a stream to their first single “Protagonists.” Also if you haven’t heard the entire album will feature production from Aesop Rock.

+++

Over at Brother Ali’s new website he has this thing going where you can ask Brother Ali questions and he will respond via video message. This first round consists of Ali’s stance on illegal downloading.

+++

Rhymesayer’s Toki Wright put up some nice footage of the Red Bull Beat Battle that rolled through Minneapolis last week. Producers battled back and forth all night which concluded with a performance from Freeway & Jake One.

Felt (Slug x Murs) -Protagonists

Ah yes! The first leak from one of my most anticipated releases - Felt 3: A Tribute To….well they have released that information yet. But we do know who will be producing the new album. “And this time Ace Rock is the drummer” states Murs in this booming new track from the duo whose other half is Slug of Atmosphere. Producer Aesop Rock will take Ant’s place on the third installation of the Felt series. I was a bit iffy when I realized Ant wouldn’t be producing the album - but Aesop Rock is the man to fill in the position. This track is the perfect taste of what is to come.

Also Rhymesayers released a clue on the album title based off this picture. Thanks guys..HA!

Felt 3: A Tribute to ______?

Well this speaks for it self. More clues to come about the album title and which producer the duo will be working with. Felt 2 is easily one of my favorite hip-hop albums ever.

This is already my favorite album of 2009/10.

The Grouch & Eligh - !BOOM! ft. Slug (Video)

Brand new video from west coast duo The Grouch & Eligh. “!Boom!” features an excellent guest verse from the one and only Slug of Atmosphere and production from Amplive of Zion I. Off The Grouch & Eligh’s latest album Say G&E! which I highly suggest you pick up - a very underated album I must say.

If you want an mp3 for the track click here!

Grouch & Eligh - BOOM! ft. Slug

Grouch & Eligh - BOOM! ft. Slug

These two performed at the after party in Canterbury at Soundset. Met them at their booth as well - nice dudes. Anyway Grouch & Eligh - both members of West Coast hip hop posse The Living Legends hook up with the one and only Slug for the third single off their new album titled Say G&E which actually dropped back in April. But I’ll agree with Mike over at MB, who I swiped the link from, in that this album definitley needs some more attention. Production on the track from Amplive of Zion I and the rest of the album includes guest verses and production from Blu, Sage Francis, Pigeon John, Flying Lotus, Mistah F.A.B just to name a few. The album is in stores now.

I’m about to revist the album right now as I pack up for the summer back in Minnesota.

Mr. Peter Parker Slug & Ant Interview + Soundset 2009 Recap

The homie Peter Parker just uploaded the first of many interviews he did at Soundset 2009. I saw this dude all over the place getting interviews left and right. He just put up his mini-interview with Slug & Ant of Atmosphere. Slug talks about what it’s like to be the headliner and Ant patiently awaits eating that corn dog.

Also Rhymesayers put together a recap of the days events in this video. Real nice glimpse into perhaps one of the best days in hip-hop…until next year that is. Awesome day.

Slug B96 Freestyle (Video - 2008)

Slug (of Atmosphere) - B96 Freestyle

I sniped an MP3 of this freestyle from Shake over at 2dopeboyz almost a year ago. Well it looks like Mr. Peter Parker finally found someone to put some video together for one hell of a (8 minute) freestyle from my man Slug. I mean come on who the hell can freestyle like that? What I love about Slug is that he can actually fucking freestyle not this recycled lines bullshit that so many rappers do. Plus come on now - gotta be some of the dopest Minnesota related lines I’ve heard. This is a must watch as Slug is truly a master of his craft.

I was laughing when Mr. Peter Parker hit the dump button after Slug said he was “just jerkin off over here.”

Edina shout out? say whaaaat?

Slug on Felt 3 (Decider - Twin Cities Interiew)

Decider: Are you working on another Atmosphere record?

Slug: Not as of yet. We’ll start in September. I just finished another Felt record. It’s getting mixed as we speak, and once it gets turned in, then the label will pick a [release] date.

Decider: Is that dedicated to a particular female, like Felt and Felt, Vol. 2, were dedicated to Christina Ricci and Lisa Bonet, respectively?

S: Yes.

Decider: Is that information under wraps?

S: Yes. I’m not allowed to divulge the actress or the producer.

Slug Decdier - Twin Cities Interview

To read the rest of the interview click above.

Slug gives a pretty normal interview about Atmospheres extensive touring, what it’s like to be an established act in hip-hop and most importantly in my mind, he talks about the release of Felt 3. If your not aware Felt consits of Slug and Murs - the duo has two albums under their belt - both of which are produced by Ant. If my copy of Felt 2: A Tribute To Lisa Bonet was a record - it definitely would not work anymore.

Also some exicting news - Atmosphere/Slug seems to have a side project that will drop sometime later this year.

Decider: Atmosphere’s been putting out a lot of EPs—you guys have been sort of tireless. Is there still stuff in reserve for Atmosphere?

S: Yeah, you know, I actually have another leaker record [a follow-up to 2007’s Strictly Leakage], but we’re just trying to figure out when and how would be the best time to put it out.

Big ups to Decider-Twins Cities for the real dope interview.

Illogic - Diabolical Fun (Remix) ft. Slug, Aesop Rock & Zerostar + Freeway - Finally Free

Illogic - Diabolical Fun (rmx) f. Slug, Aesop Rock & Zerostar

Well damn - I freaked when I first saw this track line up. I immediatley thought of the super group by the name of Orphanage which is any underground backpackers dream come true as it consists of Slug, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, Eyedea, Blueprint, and Illogic. Check out the loose collectives one and only track called “Hold Mine” which was actually on a Blueprint EP called Vitamin & Minerals EP.

But back to this new track - it’s from Illogic’s new album Diabolical Fun which is out now and I’m currentley bumping.

Freeway - Finally Free

Freeway outta the Rocafella and now Rhymesayers(!) camp just released a new track called “Finally Free.” Damn this beat bangs and Freeway always goes in. I can’t wait for his Jake-One album this summer.

NMC.
