Mos Def - The Tournament [Unreleased]

Mos Def - The Tournament [Unreleased]

Apparently this one didn’t make the cut for The Ecstatic. As a Mos Def fanatic I find this to be a nice little gem. If this were the industry 10 years ago - a track like this never would of seen the light of day.

In other news the Mos Def & Doom show here in Chicago at the Congress Theater has been postponed until Feb. 13th. Press release below. Regardless it should be an insane show as it will contain the same exact original line-up.

Shouts to Andrew over at Fake Shore Drive.

DOOM featuring Mos Def with Mike Relm at Congress Theater
RESCHEDULED for SATURDAY FEBRUARY 13th

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the DOOM featuring Mos Def show this Friday must be rescheduled for Saturday February 13th. We were informed that a scheduling conflict resulting from miscommunication between artists’ management would make it impossible for Mos Def to make any of his three MOSDOOM dates which include Toronto, New York and Chicago. As they say, the show must go on…for Chicago just two weeks later, amazingly with the entire original lineup, Saturday February 13th!

ALL TICKETS FOR JANUARY 29TH ARE STILL GOOD FOR THE FEBRUARY 13TH SHOW, SO HANG ON TO THOSE TICKETS!

Jay Electronica - Exhibit C (Live Video)

Jay Electronica hops on stage and performs the “it” song of the moment “Exhibit C” at Mos Def’s concert in NY a night or two ago. Diddy up on stage doing the ad-libs is interesting to say the least. Dope to hear this live.

A new joint from the Grammy nominated Mos Def. No word on where this track will call home but dope nevertheless. Lower quality - perhaps a better one will resurface soon.

Mos Def DJ Semtex Interview (Video) + Lupe Fiasco Interview (Audio)

Part 2 of the Mos Def interview I posted earlier this week. Part 3 on the way soon. Good stuff! Mos gives his opinion on albums of the years, best club joints, producers, films etc. Interesting answers.

Lupe calls in to the radio show and talks about Enemy Of The State mixtape, being an underdog, solar midnight and how that happened, producing his own music, the climb on Mt. Kilimanjaro and being nervous about going to Africa, and more. Part 2 coming in a few days!

Mos Def - Supermagic (Video)

I pretty much geek out to anything Mos Def related. The Ecstatic is definitely in my top 5 albums of the years. Some simple yet effective visuals for one of the highlight tracks off the album - here is is the official video for “Supermagic.”

Now I just need a video for “Auditorium” and my life is complete.

UCB gets down with Wale on this DC anthem titled “Pat Your Weave.” This track is a party on its own. *adds to party playlist*

I’m actually really disappointed in myself that I haven’t been posting every single thing related to this project but I have been slacking. BlakRoc is a project with indie rock band The Black Keys in which they enlist a hip hop army for a variety of tracks. The album features Raekwon, Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, NOE, Nicole Wray, Billy Danze and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

This track is titled “Ain’t Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo)” and features Mos Def and Jim Jones.

BET Hip-Hop Awards: The Cyphers

As I fast forwarded through the BET Hip-Hop Awards last night these cyphers were easily the highlights of the night.

Up top we have Mos Def, Black Thought and Eminem. Ridiculous. I got goosebumps watching all three of these guys spit.

Below we have KRS-One, Wale, Nipsey Hussle and Gsan. Further down Nicki Minaj, Joe Budden (fuckin’ kills it), Buckshot and Crown Royyal.

The one and only DJ Premier on the 1s & 2s.

This is hip-hop people.

BONUS: DJ Premier, Mos Def, Black Thought, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Buckshot, Crown Royyal, Joe Budden, Wale, Nipsey Hussle, Gsan & KRS-One – 2009 BET Hip Hop MEGAMIX MP3
